The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded 60 per cent of the results from Saturday’s Osun State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
A check of the portal at about 6:10 p.m. showed that results from polling units across the state were being uploaded as the electoral process moved into the collation stage.
The development comes after voters across Osun State went to the polls to elect the governor who will occupy the Bola Ige Government House for another four-year term.
A total of 15 political parties participated in the election, with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party.
Two candidates, Adesina Adeyemi-Doro of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Simon Adewale of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), had earlier announced their withdrawal from the race.
While Adeyemi-Doro endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, Adewale declared support for Adeleke.
However, both parties remained on the ballot.
Earlier reports indicated that Adeleke won his first polling unit, Polling Unit 026, Ward 5, in Osogbo Local Government Area.
Results declared by INEC officials showed that the Accord Party secured 57 votes, while the APC polled 43 votes at the polling unit.
Results from other polling units across the state continued to emerge as officials commenced the collation process.
The election was, however, not without reports of intimidation, vote-buying and other alleged electoral infractions in some locations.
Voting proceeded peacefully in several other parts of the state, while security agencies maintained a presence at polling and collation centres.
The final outcome of the election will be determined after the completion of the official collation and declaration of results by INEC.
