Political Tension Forced My Exit- Ex-Benue Speaker

From Attah Ede Makurdi

The immediate past speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Aondona Dajoh has stated that political tensions led to his decision to resign his position as speaker of the 10th Assembly.

Dajoh, who represents Gboko West State Constituency at the State Assembly, had on Sunday 23th August, 2025  tendered his resignation letter before the House during their emergency sitting.

The former speaker in a statement on Tuesday, posted on his official Facebook page, stated that he has moved on despite his forced  exit and was ready to embrace the future.

“It’s no longer news that I turned in a resignation letter as the Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly yesterday being the 24th day of August, 2025. And I have moved on,” he wrote.

The former Speaker expressed gratitude to his constituents for electing him into the 10th Assembly, and to his colleagues for entrusting him with the gavel as the Speaker of the House. He also thanked Governor Hyacinth Alia, his aides, and Assembly staff for their support throughout his tenure.

Dajoh reserved special appreciation for his wife, Kundumiyol, whom he described as “the best example of a supportive wife,” as well as his family.

He gave the glory to God for health, wisdom and grace.

Dajoh served as Speaker from June 5, 2023 to August 24, 2025.

His resignation may have been under duress, hence his soiled relationship with the Benue State Governor Rev. Hyacinth Alia.
