The Delta Police Command has confirmed the murder of retired Justice Ifeoma Okogwu, whose body was discovered in her Asaba residence on Nov. 23.
Reports indicate that her killers bound her hands and legs and ransacked the house, suggesting a violent attack that appeared both targeted and carefully executed.
Speaking to journalists, her brother, Ogbueshi Godfrey Okogwu, said the family received news of the killing on Monday morning.
He raised concerns over the disappearance of the night security guard, noting that the morning guard reported finding the gate wide open and reportedly “just sat there” upon arrival.
The family has provided the police with the details of the private security company responsible for the guards.
“The police have detained the morning guard and summoned the owner of the security outfit to the station,” he said, adding that it remains unclear whether the proprietor has complied.
Bright Edafe, the state command Spokesperson confirmed that some suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder.
“Some of the security personnel are in police custody, while one is still at large,” he stated.
Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the killing.
