The men of the Nigerian Army on Thursday prevented a group of angry protesters from storming the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The protesters wielding sticks and leaves in large numbers were heaving towards the Airport when the troops who were deployed on the link road intercepted them at the Junction to the Presidential Fleet.
The Network observed that the protesters for no reason turned down the entreaties of the soldiers and other security personnel and insisted on going to the airport.
Motorists at the scene of the fracas fled in different directions
However, the soldiers and other security personnel maintained their cool to put the situation under control.
The angry protesters threw stones and other items at the security personnel who maintained their cool and prevailed on the crowd through those identified as their leaders to leave the vicinity of the Airport.
Our correspondent saw the protesters in a convoy being escorted out of the vicinity of the Airport by soldiers.

from harassing motorists.
At the busy Abuja- Kubwa- Kaduna, the security operatives particularly the police came under heavy pressure.
The protesters took over the busy road to the scare of motorists. A lot of barricades were put on the road while motorists were compelled to fix leaves to their vehicles as a mark of solidarity with the protesting youths.
The Network observed a slight confrontation between the police and the protesters just opposite Efab Metropolitan Estate.
A large number of advancing protesters who had taken over the road were seen throwing back canisters of teargas fired at them to disperse them by the police.
The large number of leaves, sticks, stones, and other items on the road showed the activities of the protesters on the busy road.
The protesters chanted songs, calling on the government to ensure reduced cost of living but did not attack motorists.
