President Bola Tinubu on Thursday announced plans to build a new national secretariat for the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging to secure a suitable location in Abuja for the project.
Speaking during the 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party, held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, the President said, “We’ll look for an appropriate land to build a befitting secretariat.”
However, he did not disclose any financial details or timeline for the proposed construction.
The APC currently operates from the Muhammadu Buhari House, located at 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja.
The property was acquired in 2021 under the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee at a cost of N2.5 billion and was named in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
While the last NEC meeting was held at Buhari House, Thursday’s emergency session was convened at the Presidential Villa, fuelling speculations about the party’s long-term plans for a more expansive headquarters.
The move is seen as part of ongoing efforts to reposition the ruling party ahead of future political engagements and enhance its administrative operations.
