A Lagos-bound Air Peace flight was forced to make an emergency return to base on Thursday morning after suffering a bird strike shortly after takeoff.
The incident, which involved Flight P47100 en route to Enugu, prompted the airline to initiate precautionary protocols to ensure passenger safety.
In a statement issued by the airline, Air Peace confirmed that the aircraft returned safely to Lagos and is currently undergoing a thorough safety inspection by its engineering team.
“Flight P47100 operating Lagos to Enugu experienced a bird strike and had to return to base. We took this step to allow our engineers conduct a comprehensive safety assessment,” the airline said.
The disruption has caused a ripple effect across Air Peace’s flight network, resulting in delays and rescheduling of several services.
The airline apologized to affected passengers and assured the public that all efforts were being made to restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
“We sincerely empathize with our passengers over the inconvenience caused and appeal for your patience and understanding as we work diligently to minimize disruptions,” the statement added.
Air Peace reiterated its commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards and ensuring passenger wellbeing.
