Two firms have petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate Jordan Nyesom-Wike, son of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, over an alleged $2.1 million transaction involving the proposed acquisition of 60 hectares of land in Abuja.
The petition, filed by Safwan Garba GY and GY Global Oil & Gas Nigeria Limited, accused Jordan of alleged fraud, obtaining money by false pretence, criminal misappropriation and conversion in connection with the transaction.
According to the petitioners, Jordan received the $2.1 million on September 26, 2025, during a meeting at a residence in Gwarinpa, Abuja, in the presence of two witnesses.
They alleged that the payment was made under a joint venture arrangement in which Jordan was expected to secure 30 hectares of land in Katampe and another 30 hectares in Guzape, both within the Federal Capital Territory.
The firms claimed that the transaction did not proceed as agreed after the money had been paid, alleging that Jordan failed to fulfil his obligations under the arrangement.
They have consequently asked the EFCC to investigate the circumstances surrounding the transaction, including the receipt and alleged handling of the funds, to determine whether any criminal offences were committed.
The petition comes amid an existing civil dispute over the transaction before the FCT High Court in Abuja.
The civil case is before Justice Sylvester Oriji of the FCT High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja.
Counsel to the petitioners, Ibrahim Waru, said the civil aspect of the dispute was already before the court, explaining that the petition was intended to draw the EFCC’s attention to the alleged criminal elements of the transaction.
According to Waru, the petition seeks a criminal investigation separate from the civil claims being litigated before the court.
The court has adjourned the matter until December 1, 2026, for continuation of trial.
