The lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, James Faleke, has obtained the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, signalling the formal commencement of his anticipated re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The forms were presented on Tuesday in Abuja by the APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, who declared the nomination process open.
Faleke, who is also the founder of the Tinubu Support Groups, reportedly paid N100 million for the forms, in line with the party’s requirements.
The development marks an early political move within the ruling party as preparations gather momentum for the next election cycle.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, while governorship and State Houses of Assembly polls are slated for February 6, 2027.
INEC also announced that party primaries, including the resolution of disputes, will take place between April 23 and May 30, 2026.
Campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections are expected to commence on August 19, 2026, while governorship and state assembly campaigns will begin on September 9, 2026.
