Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday held a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, days after securing re-election in the state’s governorship election.
The meeting, which also involved the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, took place at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.
Adeleke arrived at the Presidential Villa at about 5:25 pm in a black Toyota Land Cruiser SUV. He was dressed in a navy blue traditional outfit and carried a walking stick.
The meeting marked the governor’s first official engagement with President Tinubu since his victory in the Osun State governorship election held last Saturday.
The visit comes shortly after the President congratulated Adeleke on his re-election, describing the outcome of the poll as a positive sign for Nigeria’s democracy.
Tinubu had also urged the governor to work towards uniting residents of Osun State irrespective of political affiliations and choices made during the election.
Several top Osun State officials were also seen at the Presidential Villa ahead of the meeting.
Among them were the Director-General of the Adeleke Campaign Council, Senator Lere Oyewumi; a member of the council, Sunday Bisi; the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Akinleye Kazeem; and the member representing Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Bamidele Salam.
The purpose of the meeting was not immediately disclosed as of the time of filing this report.
Further details are expected to emerge from the closed-door discussions between the President, the Osun governor and the National Security Adviser.
