Air Peace has issued a statement condemning what it described as the disruptive and aggressive behaviour of Sen. Adams Oshiomhole at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 in Lagos on the morning of Wednesday.
The airline alleged that the former Edo state governor and current senator for Edo North caused a major disruption after arriving late for Flight P47120, scheduled to depart for Abuja at 6:30 a.m.
According to Air Peace, Oshiomhole arrived at the terminal at 6:10 a.m.—just 20 minutes before departure—by which time the boarding process had already closed in line with the airline’s on-time departure policy.
“Upon being informed that he had missed his flight, the senator reportedly became confrontational, physically assaulted airline staff, and barricaded the entrance to the terminal, preventing other passengers from accessing the facility.
“The politician resorted to violence, physically assaulting our staff and forcefully barricading the terminal’s entrance,” the airline said.
“He went as far as sealing the entry gate and manning the access point, effectively obstructing other passengers from gaining entry into the terminal.”
The airline stated that the situation led to significant disruption of airport operations and inconvenienced numerous passengers.
In response, Air Peace said it activated contingency plans, rerouting affected travellers through an alternate terminal to minimise further delays.
Expressing dismay at the incident, the airline emphasised its zero-tolerance policy for aggression against its staff and passengers, regardless of the individual’s status.
“We are deeply saddened that such a high-profile figure displayed conduct so unbecoming and disruptive to fellow passengers and our personnel,” the statement read. “Air Peace maintains a zero-tolerance stance on violence or any form of aggression.”
Air Peace also reiterated its commitment to strict adherence to aviation timelines and safety protocols, stating that no individual—no matter how influential—is above due process.
The former Labour leader and outspoken Senator has not responded to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
