The Imole Campaign Council has pledged to mobilise 1.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, following the appointment of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke as the state coordinator of Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
The council’s Director-General, Senator Olalere Oyewumi, announced the pledge in a statement on Tuesday, saying the Accord Party’s political structure in Osun would work towards securing victory for Tinubu at the polls.
Oyewumi welcomed Adeleke’s inclusion in the revised All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, describing his appointment as well deserved.
“The Imole Campaign Council welcomes the appointment of Governor Adeleke as State Coordinator of the PBAT Presidential Campaign Council in Osun,” he said.
“The appointment is a well-deserved one. We assure the President that his confidence in the ability of Governor Adeleke to deliver Osun in the Presidential election will not be misplaced.”
The campaign council also reiterated an earlier commitment by Adeleke to secure 1.5 million votes for Tinubu in the forthcoming election.
“We promise the President, just like Governor Adeleke said sometimes ago, that we will deliver 1.5million votes to ensure his victory in the coming Presidential election,” Oyewumi said.
The council urged residents of Osun to support Adeleke, linking backing for Tinubu’s re-election campaign to the governor’s administration and its campaign promises.
It said the people should trust and support the governor “as he continues to deliver on his campaign promises. A vote for President Tinubu is a support for Governor Adeleke.”
Adeleke’s appointment places him in charge of coordinating Tinubu’s presidential campaign in Osun despite his membership of the Accord Party, while Tinubu’s re-election campaign is being organised under the APC.
Other politicians named in the revised presidential campaign council include Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
In the 2022 Osun governorship election, Adeleke won on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party before subsequently moving to the Accord Party. He was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s returning officer, Professor Joshua Ogunwole, after polling 511,067 votes against the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who received 444,815 votes.
