More facts have emerged on how an Assistant Superintendent of Police(ASP) Nuhu Usman, fondly called Ogbegbe, extra-judicially killed a Benue born 28-year-old Ogidi Mena in Delta State on April 26, 2026, through a series of intentional shooting.
The incident occurred when Mena was apprehended at the Effurun Main Park along the Sapele road after park officials uncovered a Beretta pistol in a package he went to collect.
The late victim came to take delivery of a waybill but on getting there, he was asked to pay certain amount of money because the pack was somehow heavy. The park officials demanded him to open the parcel but he told them that someone sent him.
Mena was compelled to open the pack and a Beretta pistol with 4 live ammunitions were found in the pack.
They immediately held him down, but he insisted he was sent by his friend to help him pick up the waybill.
He cried for mercy as pleading that he was ready to take them to the particular person who sent him.
The leadership of the motor park tied his legs and hands backward, blocked the gate of the park to prevent a possible attack from Mena’s gang and then called ACP Aliyu Shaba to take over the matter, investigate, and unravel the men behind the gun running business.
The Uvwie Area Commander then instructed their patrol team headed by ASP Nuhu Usman, aka Ogbegbe, to go and bring the suspect to the station. Ogbegbe and his team headed straight to the park in order to bring the said suspect, Mena.
Apparently, when ASP Ogbegbe arrived at the park with his patrol team, he reportedly shot Mena in the hand in front of a crowd.
Ogbegbe drove him to the Ekpan Police Station and upon arrival at the station’s car park, Ogbegbe was seen in a viral video where cocked his gun, and shot Mena who had pleaded loudly two more times in front of the crowd.
It was further gathered that the Area Commander ACP Aliyu Shaba who heard the gunshots, immediately ordered Ogbegbe to be disarmed and detained
Meanwhile The Delta State Police Command has issued a statement condemning the reprehensible action.
