The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arraigned three suspects in connection with the murder of Adimike Godwin, who was stabbed to death in his Guzape residence in May.

The suspects, Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany, and Comfort Ajibade—were brought before FCT High Court 13 on Monday on a four-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, and offences under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.

A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer FCT  Command, Abuja, SP Josephine Adeh on Monday said two of the suspects, Anthony and Stephany, are the deceased’s children, while Ajibade is a family employee.

The tragic incident occurred on May 15, 2026, when a distress call was received at the Guzape Divisional Headquarters from a relative reporting that the deceased was unresponsive to attempts to reach him.

Police detectives responded promptly and found Godwin lying unconscious in his room with multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to Karu General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel on duty.

Following a comprehensive investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, five suspects were initially arrested, including the deceased’s driver and gateman. However, only three were eventually charged to court.

All three defendants were jointly charged with conspiracy to commit culpable homicide in relation to Godwin’s death.

Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony was separately charged with entering into a same-sex civil union while Adimike Chinyere Stephany and Comfort Ajibade were jointly charged with entering into a same-sex civil union, contrary to the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.

The court adjourned the matter to September 30, 2026, for further proceedings and ordered that the three defendants be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending the hearing.

The FCT Police Command assured residents of the Federal Capital Territory that it would continue to pursue justice for victims of crime while respecting the constitutional rights of all persons throughout the judicial process.
