I Remain authentic Anambra LP Guber Candidate – Muoghalu

By Kamsi Anayo,  Awka

Chief George Moghalu, the Labour Party (LP) candidate in the Nov. 8 Anambra State governorship, has refuted the circulating rumour that the Federal High Court in Enugu has stopped him from parading as candidate of the party for the poll.

It went viral on Monday that the Federal High Court sitting in Enugu has restrained Moghalu from parading himself as the guber candidate of the Labour Party in the Nov. 8 Anambra state governorship election.

The interim order, issued in Suit No. FHC/AWK/CS/226/2025, followed two motions ex-parte filed by members of the Interim State Executive Committee of the Party led by Okoye Peter Chukwunulu and Jerry Nnubia.

The plaintiffs had prayed the court to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising Moghalu, who emerged from the faction of the party loyal to the sacked National Chairman, Julius Abure.

The court, presided over by Justice Nwaukwa Ukamaka, granted the order restraining Moghalu (the 4th defendant in the suit) from further parading himself as LP’s candidate in line with the April 4, 2025 judgment of the Supreme Court which removed Abure as the party’s National Chairman.

The apex court had earlier affirmed Sen. Nenadi Usman as head of the National Caretaker Committee of the party, declaring that any nominations or lists emanating from Abure’s leadership were invalid.

However, Moghalu exclusively to our Correspondent on Tuesday that “It is not true, the truth is that there is this young man and his group that went to court against the labour party, and all of us were joined.

“He made eleven prayers that I should be stopped, that I should stop parading myself as candidate of the party and cancelling the primary.

“The final prayer was on substitution service so that he can paste it on the wall of my house.

The court rejected all his prayers and granted him only substituted service which were now served us.

“My people and my lawyer went to court today (Tuesday) only to find out that the court did not seat and had adjourned the case to Sept. 8.

“I don’t know where the history of restraining me came from, but we know where it is coming from ….” Moghalu explained
